The Winter Solstice occurs when the earth’s tilt is farthest away from the sun. The beautiful thing about the Winter Solstice is it lasts only an instant. It is commonly known as the shortest day and the sun’s daily maximum position in the sky is the lowest.
I like to think about it as that one instance where the worlds are in alignment, a gateway of possibilities opens, and alechemical shifts are ignited, building light out of the dark days.
Check out some ceremonies and rituals here – – Yule, the winter solstice, is a time of great symbolism and power marking the return of the sun, when the days finally begin to get a little longer ie the dark days get a little longer.
From Mystic Mamma on this Solstice – ‘We find ourselves in the Sagittarius boat together with all the beings on this planet rowing across the black hole that is the center of our galaxy (27º Sag) gathering the vision and wisdom to take us across to new territory on the other side.’
